What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)’s are a way for farmers and consumers to work together to produce healthy food. Early in the year, members of CSA farms pay a fee to cover anticipated costs of the upcoming season, including labour, seeds, and supplies. In return, members receive a weekly portion of the farm’s harvest throughout the growing season.
SteadySpade Farm is offering a 15 week long CSA that runs from July 11, 2017 –October 17, 2017.
*Share: (15 weeks x $20) = $300
*Work Share: If you would like to get more involved with your food and get your fingernails dirty, we would like to offer you a chance to work on the farm in exchange for a weekly box of food. Let us know if this interests you!
We will arrange a convenient time and meeting place where you can pick up your vegetables every week.
Each basket contains 6-8 different kinds of vegetables which will vary throughout the season. As a member, you understand that crops can be affected by weather and animals. Sometimes we will get more or less of a specific vegetable. However, we will do our very best to ensure you have a basket of diverse and tasty vegetables every week. Don’t worry if there is something in your basket that you don’t like, there will be a ‘Swap Box’ of vegetables when you pick up your basket where you can choose to exchange some vegetables.
What can you expect to find in your basket?
Depending on the time of year, you can find: Carrots, Meslcun Mix, Beets, Kale, Radishes, Peas, Potatoes, Broccoli, Cucumbers, Zuchinni, Yellow, Green, and Specialty Beans, Green Onions, Spinach, Turnips, Squash, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Kohlrabi!
